Find a workout partner!

Have you ever lost your motivation to walk through the door of the gym and workout?  It has happened to me on many occasions!  There were times the best workout’s happened on these days.  Other times it was just a waste of time and gas.  The solution to this problem is to find a workout partner.

Staying motivated all the time is tough to say the least. The negative thoughts creep in and you find yourself feeling that your goals are not being met and working out is becoming a daily grind.  Here is where a partner comes into play and helps get back that motivation that has driven you to achieve your goals.

It is important to find a partner that has similar goals when it comes to nutrition, cardio, and strength training.  There is no need to have the exact same goals but only a desire be motivated each and every day.  When you have lost the desire to workout then your partner can help you find that deep seated desire.

Sometimes the partner can be your wife or significant other.  For me it is usually the cardio portion of my program that is shared with my significant other.  It is a nice way to share an activity that we both enjoy. And who else is better to help me stay motivated? It is also a great way to stay on track.

Having a workout partner is important on so many levels.  You will remind, support, encourage, and push each other. You will also find yourself getting support which helps to maintain a positive attitude.

Both you and your workout partner should set goals but they should not be end goals. For example, if you want to be able to bench press your body weight then the next goal should be set to lift an additional ten pounds. Never limit yourself by being complacent with how you are.  It is too easy to become bored and fall off the wagon and loose everything you have gained.

In summary, it is the greatest motivator to be accountable to meet someone at the gym so you do not get side tracked.  Nobody likes to stand someone else up and have them upset with you.
